Department Overview:

This Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is with the Global Services Engineering (GSE) Military Repairs group. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs and tooling for the F135/F119/F100/TF-33 engines. This position focuses on repair implementation and qualification, and includes development of repairs and repair tooling, scheduling, and execution of repair qualifications, obtaining internal approvals, facilitating government approval, and coordination with the various repair sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned tasks to meet schedule requirements

  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, interactions with mating parts; develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.

  • Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs

  • Research and review source processes for alignment to published technical data

  • Collaborate with other Repair Design Engineer (RDE) for SD repairs and engage with audits as needed

  • Facilitate the development and qualification of repair tools

  • Prepare or contribute to the development of standard work for repairs and tooling management

  • Participate in the prototyping of new repairs and tooling as needed

  • 10% Travel is Anticipated

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of engineering experience OR Masters Degree and 2 years of engineering experience

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Comfortable with customer interaction

  • Project management experience

  • Defense industry experience

  • Experience with aircraft component and system repair

  • Experience with aircraft repair tooling design and development

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processing such as machining, plating, plasma spray, welding, brazing or composite fabrication.

  • Able to read and communicate part and tool drawing requirements
