We are seeking a highly motivated, technically talented individual, who has a true desire to lead in a dynamic operations environment to support our HSMC Advanced Coating Business Unit as a 1st Shift Cell Leader. In this role you will be providing direction to skilled bargaining unit employees, leading employee engagement and continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, you will lead sustained improvements in safety, quality, production, material procurement, and cost reduction and be accountable for hourly staff planning and critical resource allocation to ensure business metrics are met. In conjunction to daily supervisor responsibilities, project management, effective communication and execution with support group members is critical to the department’s success. You will also assist in strategic planning such as the development of forecasts, financial planning, training, and capital expenditures. Excellent organization, prioritization, and interpersonal skills are important.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing direction to skilled HSMC-S bargaining unit employees.
  • Leading employee engagement and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Lead sustained improvements in safety, quality, production, material procurement, and cost reduction through the system’s various elements.
  • Perform daily supervisor responsibilities, project management, effective communication, and execution with support group members.
  • Establish work schedules and monthly delivery plans considering resource availability that align with customer needs and satisfy financial obligations.
  • Provide leadership and direction with an emphasis on team building through daily toolbox meetings, effective communications, and in developing an efficient team that is responsive to production requirements and changes.
  • Lead the implementation of the Standard Production System (SPS) framework in BU241 to align standard organizational structures, daily and weekly regimens, and metrics with clear roles and responsibilities to deliver on our Operational Excellence (OpX) strategy via the OpX Playbook.
  • Communicate to peers requirements at supporting process to ensure smooth process flow.
  • Hold employees accountable while maintaining a key working relationship.
  • Drive World-class safety culture is maintained and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly.
  • Control quality, productivity, and process flow to meet MRP requirements while ensuring a high level of customer happiness.

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of manufacturing/operations experience OR a Master’s degree with 2+ years of manufacturing/operations experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in an operations or manufacturing setting required.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clear, concise and effective communicator.
  • Experience working with all levels of management and experience in a union environment.
  • Highly self-directed, quick learner, with a strong drive for results.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement principles (lean manufacturing, ACE/CORE, QCPC, etc.).
  • Consistent track record in team leadership roles.
  • Ability to plan projects and to craft clear written/verbal/analytical/org skills to influence business objectives.
  • Computer proficiency in Excel a plus​.
